Golf Dawgs Set Three Weekend Fall Slate

SEC teams may compete in up to three team events beginning no earlier than October 1, and are limited to events involving only SEC members or non-conference teams from the geographic region of the SEC school.
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State men's golf program announced the three-tournament fall portion of its 2020-21 schedule following the SEC's new start dates for fall sports.
For the 2020 fall segment of the men's and women's golf and men's and women's tennis seasons, SEC teams may compete in up to three team events beginning no earlier than October 1. SEC golf and tennis teams will be limited to events involving only SEC members or non-conference teams from the geographic region of the SEC school.
"We are very excited for the opportunity to compete this fall within our great conference," head coach Dusty Smith said. "I can't thank the leadership at Mississippi State and the SEC enough for giving our student-athletes the chance to do what they love. We look forward to competing soon."
The Golf Dawgs will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the season opener at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on October 5-7. As previously announced, the tournament will be broadcasted on the GOLF Channel from 3:30-6:30 p.m. CT each day.
State will take three weeks off before heading to Franklin, Tennessee, on October 25-27 to compete in the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate.
For the fall finale, MSU returns to Vestavia Hills, Alabama, for the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate after missing the event last year for the first time since 2009. Sate will tee of on Nov. 9-10. In the 2018 tournament, the Bulldogs placed sixth overall, and Garret Johnson finished tied for 18th. Johnson carded 69, and Cameron Clarke and Ford Clegg both shot 70's in the first round of the competition helping secure the top-half team finish.
The Bulldogs' spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
