Cumbest Named SEC Player of the Week

Cumbest currently leads State offensively with .340 batting average
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State outfielder Brad Cumbest has been named the SEC Player of the Week following his performance at the plate this past week.
Cumbest totaled a team-high seven hits in 13 at bats (.538), including two home runs and a total of four extra-base hits, in leading the Bulldogs to a 3-1 record and a series win over in-state rival Ole Miss on the road.
He tied a career-high four hits in five at bats, including two doubles and three runs scored in State's 10-7 series-tying win on Friday. He followed that performance up by hitting the game-winning home run in the top of the 11th of Saturday's finale to clinch the series over the Rebels.
Cumbest currently leads State offensively with .340 batting average in 41 games. He has a team-high 10 doubles and ranks second on the team with 12 home runs. His .653 slugging percentage leads all Diamond Dawgs.
